La celebración de la inauguración oficial del Centro Don Haskins se llevó a cabo el 04 de marzo de 1977 y contó con la actuación de Lawrence Welk y su orquesta. En la fotografía están Karl O. Wyler (Izquierda) presidente de KTSM AM/FM/TV y fundador de la estación de radio de UTEP, KTEP-FM; John Phelan (Centro) egresado de UTEP y Vicepresidente, Gerente General de Ventas de KTSM AM/FM/TV; y Lawrence Welk (derecha), artista.
