Juana Marquez - Esposa del Primer Alcalde
Juana Marquez Dowell (1833-1891), esposa del primer alcalde de El Paso, Texas. Su padre era el jefe de los Tigua. Benjamin S. Dowell la encontró en Ysleta, ubicada en la zona Lower Valley, y se casó con ella en el año 1852. Ella tenía 19 años y el 34. Solamente hablaba español y el idioma Tigua, y como muchas mujeres jóvenes de su época, no contaba con una educación formal.
