Primera en graduarse de la unica escuela secundaria en El Paso

(Foto cortesía de la sociedad histórica del condado de El Paso) Así fue que Kate Moore matriculó en El Paso primero de secundaria y en 1887 a los 16 años, se convirtió en la primera mujer en graduarse de la primera escuela secundaria de El Paso en 1887, uno de los dos estudiantes para completar los requisitos de ese año, siendo el otro George Prentiss Robinson, 20, hijo de un pagador Fort Bliss. Fue una de muchas novedades como Kate Moore desafió las normas de esta ciudad del oeste de Texas, así como los del resto del país en su crecimiento como una mujer independiente y activa. Sólo un año más tarde, el padre de Kate se mudó a la familia a San Diego, California, donde Kate se matriculó en una escuela secundaria local y recibió un segundo diploma en 1889. Ese año murió su padre y Kate se movio a El Paso en 1890.
