Presidente Barack Obama visitó El Paso en 2011 mayo por primera vez después de su elección en 2008. Él habló en el Chamizal National Memorial . Su discurso se centró en la seguridad fronteriza y la reforma migratoria , centrándose en la ciudadanía para los inmigrantes ilegales.
