El Padre Rick Matty en 2010 y los feligreses de la Catedral de San Patricio, la procesión del Viernes Santo en Arizona Street en El Paso, Texas. Richard Matty nació en Ohio, fue ordenado sacerdote el 28 de mayo de 1983 para la Sociedad de María. Llegó a El Paso en 1986 y fue el director ejecutivo fundador de los servicios Diocesano de Migrantes y Refugiados. Fue nombrado el primer sacerdote de Santa Frances Xavier Cabrini. El P. Matty también fue nombrado administrador de la Diócesis de El Paso de 1995 a 1996, seguido de su nombramiento como rector de la Catedral de San Patricio el 1 de julio de 1997. Ocupó este cargo hasta el 16 de julio de 2012, a la edad de 57 años. murió mientras viajaba a Chicago.
