Funded in 1936 by the Texas Centennial Commission and constructed on land donated by the City of El Paso, the El Paso Centennial Museum opened its doors on April 23, 1937 as a component of the Texas College of Mines and Metallurgy (now The University of Texas at El Paso). It is the oldest continually operating museum in El Paso, TX.
At one time this road went straight through campus of University of TX at El Paso. Campus was given complete new landscape design and is pedestrian friendly and lush with desert plants.
