Acolchados- El Paso, Texas
El acolchado es un proceso en el que se cosen varias capas de tela de modo que las capas no se desplazan. La armadura de algodón de los aztecas y las chaquetas de cuero de los soldados coloniales españoles estaban acolchadas. El acolchado se confunde a menudo con el trabajo a destajo – el proceso de coser pequeñas piezas de tela para formar una unidad más grande de material – que puede o no ser acolchado. Los tejidos, los patrones y la costura utilizados a destajo a menudo tenían un significado personal para el fabricante y tanto el trabajo manual como las historias se transmitían a las generaciones posteriores.
