Radio - El Paso, Texas

La radio emisora llegó a El Paso en la década de 1920. La compañía Mine and Smelter Company, bajo el indicativo WDAH, salió al aire en 1922. El gobierno federal movió el límite que divide sus señales de llamada este-oeste en 1923, por lo que todas las estaciones de radio y televisión posteriores de El Paso usan K como su distintivo de llamada . La electrónica de los primeros radios residenciales dependía de los tubos de vacío de vidrio, por lo que eran grandes, diseñados para mezclarse con los muebles, y tenían que enchufarse a una toma de corriente. Radios de estado sólido (sin cámara) aparecieron a mediados de la década de 1950. Las radios de transistores funcionaban con baterías y podían ser transportadas fácilmente por un individuo. El dibujante de El Paso y graduado de Austin, Tom Moore, describió la época en que los adolescentes tomaron el control de su música en la clásica serie cómica Archie y Jughead.
