Colchas están tejidos en unas telas, a veces la mujer de la casa haría girar y teñir el hilo y una tejedora itinerante haría el tejido. Acolchado en realidad una técnica para coser dos pedazos de paños o cuero, puede incluir una capa media de relleno. Parches de ropa nueva o desgastada pueden ser cosidos juntos en patrones decorativos como la capa superior del edredón. Edredones y colchas fueron ambos útiles y un recordatorio diario de la gente que contribuyó a su creación.
