Me and the White House Department Store

This is a picture of me standing in front of the building that once contained the White House Department Store. I've lived in El Paso, Texas my whole life and have gained a great admiration for this historic city as I've grown up in it. This building behind me is about a hundred years old, for an example of how far back this city goes, though that's just the tip of the iceberg, really. Yes, I'm sort of a history kind of guy.

Inside the White House - El Paso, Texas

One of the oldest and most well-known businesses in El Paso, Texas the White House Department Store served the community for nearly a hundred years before closing in the late seventies. Designed by architect Henry Trost in the early 1900s.

The White House Department store

This department store has been around for over 100 years in one form or another. It was founded by a French immigrant to Juarez, Mexico, then proceeded to expand into El Paso as the city experienced massive growth due to the expansion of the railroad network into the area.

The White House, Mills Building, and The Plaza Hotel

All of these famous El Paso landmarks in the historic Pioneer Plaza were designed by the famous architect Henry Trost in the early 1900s. Going left to right: The White House Department Store, the Mills Building, and the Plaza Hotel.
