El Dorado High School
El Dorado High School opened in July, 2003 under the leadership of Principal Nora Paugh. The school originally served students in grades 7-9. El Dorado is now a comprehensive four year Title I public high school with challenging academic programs designed to meet the needs of a diverse student body. EDHS graduated its first senior class in May 2007. Authorized in 2006 EDHS is only one of two high schools in West Texas designated as an International Baccalaureate World School. The class of 2008 boasts its first graduating class of IB diploma candidates. An array of other honors programs are provided for students not pursuing an IB diploma: Advanced Placement, Gifted and Talented, Dual Credit, and AVID. SPC. Rafael Hernando III Middle School
Specialist Rafael Hernando III Middle School opened in 2007. The school temporarily housed Chester E. Jordan Elementary School students and staff while their permanent campus was constructed and completed during the summer of 2009. The school is located at 3451 Rich Beem Blvd. in the heart of the district's fast growing El Dorado feeder pattern. Hernando Middle School serves students from Hurshel Antwine, Chester E. Jordan and Sgt. Roberto Ituarte elementary schools. Paso del Norte opened its doors in July 2005. The school serves over 1,250 students. Jane A. Hambric School - El Paso, Texas
Jane A. Hambric School opened its doors in July 2000. The school was named after Jane A. Hambric, a journalism teacher who taught at Socorro High School for many years. When Americas High School opened, in September of 1996, she was excited to begin the first journalism class at the new SISD campus. Jane A. Hambric died of a heart attack in 1997. Jane A. Hambric School is the Home of the Hawks who 'Soar to Success'. Sgt. Roberto Ituarte
Sgt Robert Ituarte was a U.S. Marine who joined the service in 1958 at the age of 17. He re-enlisted in 1962. He was stationed in Kaneohe Marine Base with "A" Co., 1st Bn., 4th Marines and then landed in Chu Lai, Vietnam on May 7, 1965, at which time he served with "E" Co., 2nd Bn., 7th Marines. While participating in "Operation Harvest Moon," Sgt. Ituarte was killed-in-action on December 11, 1965, at the age of 24. His unit greatly mourned his loss. Hurshel Antwine Elementary School
Mr. Hurshel James Antwine was a long time marketing education cooperative learning instructor and DECA sponsor for Career and Technology Education. He was a delightful man with many stories to tell about his journey through education in Texas and Oklahoma. He ran the DECA school store at Socorro High School. He donated money from the store for scholarships. His passion for life was teaching students to become productive in the work force. He worked with the community businesses to help find jobs for students. The majority of his life was dedicated to education. He died at the age of 67, three months after retiring from the Socorro Independent School District, in 1990.
