Lawrence Welk perfoms at Don Haskins Center Opening

The official grand opening celebration of the Don Haskins Center took place on March 4, 1977 and featured a performance by Lawrence Welk and his orchestra. Pictured are Karl O. Wyler (L) president of KTSM AM/FM/TV and founder of UTEP's radio station, KTEP-FM; John Phelan (C) UTEP alumni and Vice President--General Sales Manager for KTSM AM/FM/TV; and Lawrence Welk (R), entertainer.
