Mr. Calvin Esterly, a retired Army officer and West Point graduate, was El Paso's first Superintendent of Schools. First row: Fannie Echols (Mrs. Leigh Clark), Mary I. Stanton, Miss Sega_, Anna Moore (Mrs. Fruin), Mary H. Gates (Mrs. Chas. R. Morehead). Standing: Bessie Cairn (Mrs. B. Bailey), Larua Fink (Mrs. C.E. Kell___, Prof. Esterly, Ella B. Meckins (Mrs. Wilkins), Mrs. Disbro (Mrs. Lomax), Mrs. Smythe. Ella Wilkins became principal of El Paso High School (first location) in 1886.
