Brig. Gen. Heidi V. Brown
Brig. Gen. Heidi V. Brown, Multi-National Corps-Iraq deputy commanding general for sustainment, was a guest speaker at the transfer of authority between the 13th Public Affairs Detachment, Fort Hood, Texas, and the 114th Public Affairs Detachment, Concord, N.H., on the Courage Balcony of Camp Victory's Al Faw Palace, April 29. Brown thanked the 13th PAD for helping share stories to the American public back in the United States, which was "absolutely key in improving and sustaining security in the region." "Brown, a 1977 graduate of Austin High School, was the first woman from El Paso to graduate from the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., in 1981. She went on to become the first woman to command a Patriot missile battalion and the first woman to command an air defense artillery brigade and lead it into combat, in Iraq in 2003." http://www.elpasotimes.com/news/ci_27439373/el-pasoan-maj-gen-brown-heading-next-challenge
