Inducted in 2001 Hall of Fame’s only Son/Father/Son trio honoree From 1957-1959 he played shortstop for the Lower Valley Bus Lines in the Ysleta league From 1960 to 1962 he was an All Star playing for F. A. Hill in the Lower Valley Optimist League Played varsity baseball for Ysleta High School from 1963 to 1966 All District catcher for 3 years 1964, 1965 and 1966 for the Indians From 1967 thru 1970, Rudy starred at New Mexico Highlands University He was the leading hitter on the Highlands NAIA championship team in 1967 Earned Rocky Mountain All Conference Honors in 1968 as a catcher and led team back into playoffs In 1969 and 1970, he was named team captain and was the starting catcher Played Semi-Pro from 1970 to 1973 for the Socorro Cougars under his father, El Paso Baseball Hall of Famer Tacho Carrasco in the Lower Valley League Also played Semi-Pro baseball in Albuquerque New Mexico and Juarez Mexico In 1968, he was selected to play for Mexico in the World Cup Games in Cali Colombia Started his coaching career in 1971 in San Diego California From 1974 to 1989 he coached baseball, football, golf and girls basketball at Ysleta High School and won 4 Junior Varsity District Championships From 1996 to 1998 he coached baseball at Slider Middle School In 1999, he coached the Junior Varsity at Montwood High School Served as Head Baseball Coach at Mountain View High School starting in 2000 From 1977-1980, he was the Commissioner for the El Paso County Baseball League and helped organize the Ysleta Optimist Baseball Program Member El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame Board of Directors
