Stanton, a member of the Current Topics Club, establishes the first children’s library in the United States. Mr. Calvin Esterly, a retired Army officer and West Point graduate, was El Paso's first Superintendent of Schools. First row: Fannie Echols (Mrs. Leigh Clark), Mary I. Meckins (Mrs. Wilkins), Mrs. Disbro (Mrs. Lomax), Mrs. Smythe. Ella Wilkins became principal of El Paso High School (first location) in 1886.
