Apolonio Reyes - Company E - 1940
Reyes was a member of Rifle Company E, 141st U.S. Army Infantry, 36th Division, which was a National Guard unit activated in 1940. It had a vital role in the liberation of Rome during World War II. Died September 25, 2017, he was 96 years old. The company is documented as one of the toughest fighting units in the Army and consisted of mostly Hispanics from Bowie, Austin and El Paso high schools.
