Motorized Trolley

On this picture a motorized version of the old mule-powered trolleys can be seen. The beginning of the mule-drawn streetcar system in El Paso dates back to the early 1880s. At that time, most of the traffic was between El Paso and Juarez. Towards the end of the century electric street cars were established and electric streetcar routs branched out in all directions, further away from the downtown area. A part of the Plaza Theater's renovation is visible in the background.
