El Paso Port-All

Public Art Artist: Werc Alvarez Material: Acrylic paint, Mosaics, Senstile, Aerosol The Stanton Port of Entry is one out of three area bridges that connect the United States- Mexico border of El Paso TX and Cd. Juarez. The Stanton Port of Entry represents a bi-national and bi-cultural relationship with the neighboring city of Cd. Juarez with an average 1.2 million northbound crossings a year, residents and visitors alike can enjoy the new administrative facility, improved pedestrian and toll collection, construction of canopies on the bridge and pedestrian corridor, landscaping, digital information screens, automated fare kiosks, and public artwork. The themes and concepts presented in the work is the idea of art transforming, inspiring, healing, weaving, and empowering communities. The work represents new and old icons in new ways. The transitive nature of the border allowed him to dive into an immaterial world created by geometric shapes and patterns. New patterns emerge giving the viewer multiple experiences as the reflective qualities of the materials react differently depending on where the viewer is standing and the nearby lighting conditions.
