The Sun Bowl was built in 1963 with a capacity of approx. 30,000. It was renovated in 1982 expanding capacity to 52,000. It has 18 concession stands and approximately 7,900 parking spaces surrounding it. Besides football it has been host to performances by the Rolling Stones, U2, Pink Floyd, Ricky Martin, Pace Motor Sports Monster Trucks, two Dallas Cowboy Scrimmage contests, and a boxing match featuring Oscar De La Hoya.

Bridge to Juarez in top right corner. Border Highway later included in Loop 375. Providence Memorial Hospital middle of left edge. By 2020 triangle in middle of UTEP campus totally changed landscape of campus.
